Back on the road - pictures still to come

Today we had a full day starting with a stop at Pickering Castle.  A smaller castle but on our way to our next stop.

Next, stop, Scarborough Castle which we ran through very quickly.  Nothing like being on the uppermost point on the coast in the middle of a lightning storm.....maybe not the smartest thing.  The views were beautiful though.

Next, the Abbey at Whitby.  It appeared as though the storm had passed but by the time we made it through the walk and the gates, it started again.  Another quick pass through.  This was the Abbey, Bram Stoker modelled Dracula after.

By the time we got back to the town of Whitby, the rain had ended and we had a nice lunch and walk through the cute town.

When I was planning our trip I checked to see if we’d be far from the town of Warrenby, where my Grandpa Joe was born.  According to Google maps, it was only 4 minutes out of our way so I thought we would have to find it.  When we got on the road after Whitby we tried to enter it in the nav system and it didn’t understand it.  I went on memory and we soon realized the town really doesn’t exist, but is an industrial area of Redcar.  I’m pretty sure this is the spot, just nothing left.  Oh well, we tried.

On to Sunderland instead, where all we planned on doing was spending the night.
