Full day - part 1: canal walk

We started the day by walking along the Pontcysyllte Aquaduct.  Wow, to think they built this in the 1800s.  It took 10 years to built and finished in 1805.  It’s 18 stone arches that span over the River Dee, 150 feet above.

It was fairly dizzying walking along the edge with the river flowing below.  While we were walking two canal boats were crossing.  As the last he went slowly past the driver says to us “I’ve crossed this  a thousand times and it still scares me to death!”
